Arsenal aren’t a good team - Arsenal are compensated by individual talent whereas “lesser” considered side’s possess high levels of teamwork but lower ability on a player to player basis.

This season particularly has seen Arsenal win games and salvage draws against opposition that the best Arsenal sides of the past would have swept aside at a canter.

Take for example, the game versus Brighton, there was a run of play where Brighton worked the ball from the left hand side deep into the box and was met at the back post with a free header which luckily posed no threat to Martinez’s goal. Moments later, Nicholas Pepe cut inside as he has been employed to do, and curled a delicious shot into the top left hand corner past the impressive Matt Ryan in the Brighton goal.

An example of the opposing team having a high level of team ability but being undone by some individual magic.

The two goals that Brighton answered with, were pure team created goals, borne from a trust and unity, the current Arsenal crop haven’t quite figured out.

Arteta has a big job on his hands trying to curate a culture that sticks and hopefully there will be money to bring in new faces as it is looking very bleak.
